I was promptly collected by Robert and Maria, who kindly drove me to my scan appointments at Ashford Hospital. I had several scans in different departments and on different floors, which took quite some time to complete and would have been impossible for me to manage alone.
Throughout the visit, Robert and Maria stayed with me, helping me navigate the hospital and reading the signs and directions I couldn’t see due to my limited sight. They turned what could have been a long, stressful and exhausting day into something safe, calm and genuinely pleasant, supporting me every step of the way in my ongoing health journey.

Last October, after owning my car for 23 years, I decided to sell it as it was costing me more to run than the use, I was getting from it! It later dawned on me, how am I going to do my shopping and attend my GP and hospital appointments? Then, I was told about Care in the Community and discovered Care in Weybridge transport services.
On one of my first journeys with them, as we were driving home, the volunteer casually asked whether I needed anything from Waitrose since we would be passing by. How proactive and thoughtful! I felt genuinely cared for and safe — and managed to get two jobs done in one trip.
I now use Care in Weybridge most weeks for hospital appointments, and I cannot speak highly enough of the service they provide. Although I’m greeted by different volunteer drivers each time, one thing is always consistent: their kindness, patience, and genuine care.
The drivers arrive promptly — often a little early — which immediately puts me at ease. For hospital appointments, they go above and beyond. They make sure I reach the correct department, offer reassurance, and always wait to bring me safely home afterwards.
This thoughtful support makes such a positive difference to my week. Care in Weybridge is a wonderful example of what dedicated volunteers can achieve, and I’m truly grateful for everything they do for our community.
